At a young age, Andrew Dettmers joined the United States Marine Corps, where tactics, training, and discipline became a foundational aspect of his life and continue to be today. In the infantry, Dettmers received extensive firearms training and learned vital first aid skills before deploying to Afghanistan in combat operations. His service later took him to Okinawa, Japan, and South Korea as part of a Marine Expeditionary Unit. Training never ceased, whether in America, Afghanistan, the jungles of Japan, or the hills of South Korea.
Dettmers would re-enlist to become a Marine Security Guard (MSG). While serving as an MSG, he would travel to Vienna, Austria, Niamey, Niger, and San Salvador, El Salvador. At each location, Dettmers would secure U.S. Embassies, conduct firearms training for the Marines assigned to those locations, and write Emergency Operations Plans. As a Sergeant of Marines, Dettmers would join the Marine Security Guard Augmentation Group (MSAU), respond to embassies in crisis, and conduct site security surveys to enhance Embassy preparedness. Additionally, he would integrate first aid procedures and gun safety protocols into training to ensure the utmost safety and readiness of his team.
After an Honorable Discharge, Dettmers would obtain a Bachelors of Criminology and Criminal Justice from UTSA. While pursuing his Educational Development, he continued honing his security expertise by working in the private sector. Later, he would join the Transportation Security Administration, further developing his professional training and skillset, including firearms training and first aid. Today, Dettmers assists in securing public schools, utilizing his knowledge of gun safety and site security to ensure that Texan children are in a safe and secure environment.
